messenger bag

For the new school year, my daughter requested a messenger bag -- made by me. Nice thought, eh? Of course, I said. How could I disappoint her? School started three weeks ago ... I finished it today.
The fabric is from JoAnn's, it's corduroy and lined in corduroy, so it's pretty heavy. There's also an interior facing of canvas, so I think this puppy will hold up pretty well.
There are two pockets under the front flap that face out; and there's an interior hanging pocket for stuff like pens and pencils (and other fourth grade stuff).
I started with an Amy Butler pattern -- cut out all the pieces and parts, lined 'em just like she said and then got pretty lost. So, I looked at the pictures, omitted all the zippers and the snaps and made one without all the bells and whistles. She loves it all the same.
(PS She just got home from school and it's a rainy, windy day -- that's today's explanation for the hair.)

She looks like she loves it. I like the fabric, is that owls? Biz texted me a picture of the purse you gave her it looks great. See you in a couple of weeks.

Just saw the messenger bag - so cute. Maybe a haircut would help. Or else a constant pony. I love the fabric.
