purses and pouches

Thanks to being at the East Lansing Art Fair, I was able to meet people that I otherwise would not have met. And, thanks to meeting them, I was able to secure a few custom purse/pouch sewing jobs.

I made this one for Anne ... a super patient woman, who chose this awesome fabric from Susan Sargent. The canvas weight is a good choice for the lined bag, used interfacing (which I hate using) to make it a bit more sturdy.

Jackie treated herself for her 40th to this one, which is made from one of Amy Butler's lines (not recent). Happily, I had this one and a corresponding one from the same line for the lining. Since it's 100% cotton, I decided to quilt the exterior of the bag to make it a bit heavier. Worked and she loved it.

This cute little number is for a teacher at the school where my kids all go (gosh, I miss school ... for them). A new mom, she wanted a pouch that would hold stuff like her wallet, lip gloss and a few other personal items in her son's diaper bag. This one's quilted too.

Off to finish the birthday cake baking! We're up to our eyeballs in it, trying to make an R2D2 cake. Wish me luck!
